Thursday, November 04, 2004 mi abuelita is burried in the foot of one of mi abuelo's mountains. well, their mountains.. you have joint ownership when you're married to someone, that's a given. on a mountain beside the road that you have to walk up to coming from the ponds. need a clearer picture? from the house... turn left and take 60 HUge steps. if you take 7 more, you'll reach the gate [where you let water in and out of the ponds]. but we dont have to go there... from the vantage point near the tree, turn right and walk 50 huge steps to get to another gate then advance 65 more steps [all huge people, all huge] to get to another gate. the dike we walked on separates the 1st and 2nd ponds. then from the gate, turn left and walk 100 steps... now you're walkin in the dike between the 2nd and 4th ponds then the 3rd and 4th ponds. [man, it's kinda hard to imagine, isnt it?] at the end you will find yourself standing in front of a coconut tree, from there, turn right and walk 210 steps. the dike is fashioned in a not-so-zig zag manner but curved enough to make you fall into a pit of mud in the dark. the 4th pond is situated at the right side of this dike when it almost serves as a cliff on the left overlooking a narrow 'waterway'. on your 210th step, you'll find yourself in a 2-planked bridge which you can cross in 2 huge steps to keep yourself from getting wet. and from there climb up the stairs and you'll find urself in front of the road in 38 long strides. but mi abuelita's grave isnt there yet.. oh no it's not!!! tired as we already were,, we had to walk 168 steps up the road to a clearing where we have to make a left and advance 98 steps into the entrance. there you will see mi abuelita's grave in the middle of her own little paradie`. she had her own little pond with water lilies and tilapia fingerlings and a waterfall on top of with with the blessed Mother. there were plants all over the place but they were fashioned in a pretty manner accentuating what was in the middle, mi abuelita, surrounded by all things beautiful to her.. nature at its best. we would visit her 2 times a day... in the morning and around 10 at night to make our own little Blair Witch project. it's so funny. haha! it became habitual for us to walk those 5 hectares but not entirely since we cut through it in the dikes.. but that's how big the land was. we didnt even get tired anymore, busy scaring the shit from each one at night while singing at the top of our lungs at daylight. oh yes... IT WAS FUN! and that's not even the WHOLE of it... across the road there are mountains.. more like big hills but what the heck and the BaraquieL mahogany plantation in Danos which is around 3 barrios away but we can see the view of it from the house but it was faaaar! i'll get into that later... all this typing is making my hands freeze. i could almost hear my fingers crackle. WAHA! leaving skool nothing to see here at 5:58 PM {xoxo} |
